The Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Film Comment Selects series offers a fresh look at a concert film unlike any other with Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.

David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Nick Wright recorded a handful of songs in a 2,000 year old empty Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy without the benefit of a live audience. Long horizontal tracking shots give way to studio sessions of Dark Side of the Moon and interviews on the use of musical equipment, oysters, and economic collapse… 

The perfect entry point into Pink Floyd’s early 1970s period.
